Actress-turned-politician Venna Melina says that that she was once offered fake university degrees.
'The offers came through my staff,' the 42-year-old told tempo.co on Friday.
Venna said she was suspicious and refused to pay millions of rupiah for the sketchy documents.
'I don't feel proud,' she said. 'What are the degrees for if there was no knowledge transfer through the process?'
Venna, a member of House of Representatives backed by the Democratic Party, is currently a master's student at Trisakti University in Jakarta.
Her statement comes on the heels of reports saying that some House members have used fake degrees to support their careers.
