Surakarta Mayor FX Hadi Rudyatmo has said the Surakarta administration will not be spending any of its budget on the wedding of President Joko âJokowiâ Widodoâs oldest son, Gibran Rakabuming Raka, and Selvi Ananda in Surakarta on June 11
urakarta Mayor FX Hadi Rudyatmo has said the Surakarta administration will not be spending any of its budget on the wedding of President Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo's oldest son, Gibran Rakabuming Raka, and Selvi Ananda in Surakarta on June 11.
'All wedding costs are being covered by Pak Jokowi. Nothing is being taken from the [Surakarta] budget. The Surakarta administration is not spending any money [on it]. Everything is being covered privately with Pak Jokowi's family's money,' he said on Thursday.
The mayor was speaking in response to rumors claiming that thousands of Jokowi's volunteers would attend the wedding events of Gibran-Selvi and plan to set up tents in areas around the reception hall. They will reportedly attend Gibran's and Selvi's pre-wedding and midodareni (eve of wedding) events on the evening of June 10.
Responding the plan, Rudy said the Surakarta administration would not facilitate Jokowi's volunteers and had prohibited the volunteers from setting up tents in public areas.
'If they want to stay here, please get a hotel, motel or guesthouse. They are not allowed to set up tents. The Surakarta administration will not facilitate them,' said the mayor.
Rudy, who is one of Gibran-Selvi's wedding organizing committee members, said he had been assigned with organizing parking areas for invited guests and becak (pedicab), which would be used to transport guests from their cars to the wedding venue.
The mayor said he had arranged for 200 pedicabs to take the guests from the parking areas to the Graha Saba Buana wedding hall. The pedicabs will be decorated and their drivers wear striped uniforms made from woven material and blangkon (traditional Javanese batik headdress).
'All will be covered by Pak Jokowi, not the Surakarta budget,' said Rudy. (ebf)(+++)
