Indonesian Military Commander Gen
ndonesian Military Commander Gen. Moeldoko vows to take harsh actions against Army's Special Force (Kopassus) personnel who were allegedly involved in an attack on members of the Air Force in Sukoharjo, Central Java, on Sunday.
'We have taken tough steps. This case causes me to think about taking further measures. Harsh actions have been taken,' he said after a TNI leadership meeting in Cilangkap, East Jakarta, on Thursday.
He reiterated that he himself has repeatedly asked all soldiers to leave behind their sectoral egoism and instead build a spirit of partnership with soldiers from other forces.
'But the attack was launched individually. So, harsh actions will be taken against those involved in the incident,' he said as quoted by Antara news agency.
He also appreciated that Kopassus general commander Maj. Gen. Doni Monardo already made apology to the Air Force and expressed his commitment to helping the dead and injured victims.
The incident occurred when more than 20 soldiers from Kopassus's Group 2 in Kandangmenjangan, Surakarta, launched an attack on four Air Force soldiers outside a cafe and karaoke club in Sukoharjo. One soldier was killed and three others were seriously injured. Kopassus has handed over to the Military Police seven soldiers who are held responsible for the attack. (rms)(+++)
