akarta will be fully served by a 4G network by the end of November, according to a promise made by Communications and Information Minister Rudiantara to Jakarta Governor Basuki "Ahok" Tjahaja Purnama.
"Ahok said he wanted to make Jakarta a 'smart city', so I promised him that by the end of this year, by late November, Jakarta would be covered by a 4G network," Rudiantara told the press in South Jakarta on Monday.
Rudiantara said that he had asked the governor to issue a bylaw on the opening of ducting access for high-rise buildings in Jakarta for the installment of cables to ensure the 4G coverage.
"If it was up to the landlords, there would be some who opened the ducting and some who refused to. That wouldn't work. In the end, it would result in high costs for the system," he said.
Jakarta launched its Smart City Project in December, including new mobile applications such as Clue for residents to lodge complaints and CROP for city leaders to respond to complaints. (fsu)(++++)
