A

police officer, identified only as Adj. First Insp. M, from the North Sumatra Water Police has been arrested by the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) for selling crystal methamphetamine at his home on Jl. Malaka in Tanjung Balai,

Tanjung Balai Police chief Adj. Sr. Comr. Ayep Wahyu confirmed on Monday that BNN officers had raided officer M'€™s house on Sunday and found 10 kilograms of methamphetamine.

'€œYes, he was arrested by the BNN. He and the evidence were taken to BNN headquarters [in Jakarta] for further investigation,'€ Ayep said.

He said the BNN had received information earlier about the officer'€™s alleged drug sales and they then raided the house, arrested the suspect and seized the drugs.

In January this year, the Medan District Court sentenced former policeman Tri Sudarmoko, alias Moko, to life imprisonment for drug dealing at Tanjung Gusta Penitentiary in Medan, North Sumatra.

Moko, who was arrested by BNN officers in a housing complex in Medan in November 2013, was found guilty of selling 2.1 kg of crystal meth and 11,400 ecstasy pills.
