aving been urged to shake up the Cabinet to improve ministers' performances, President Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo opened a Cabinet meeting on Monday by asking his ministers to submit reports of their work over the last six months.
'I ask all ministries and institutions to report their work over the last six months, November-April. I expect to receive the reports within two days,' he said.
Jokowi said that the reports should include achievements from the six-month period, and asked ministers to also create work plans for the May-October period.
'It should be detailed and no more than two pages,' he precised.
As with his previous allusions to a future Cabinet reshuffle, Jokowi did not directly say that the progress report heralded a shake-up.
The Jokowi administration has come under heavy fire since it began governing in October last year, with the economy slowing in recent months. His own popularity has plunged to the lowest point since he assumed the presidency. Pollsters have suggested that, in the public's view, the Cabinet's performances in economic matters and law enforcement have been the worst.
