he Indonesian basketball team failed to inflict an upset against the regional champion, the Philippines, and had to be content with silver after losing the final match 72-64 at the 28th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games in Singapore on Monday.
As seen from the score chart, the Philippines led in the first two quarters, 22-15 and 17-11, while Indonesia was ahead in last two quarters, 19-21, 14-17.
Meanwhile, despite missing captain Desmond Oh and forward Lim Shengyu, the Singapore men's basketball team clinched the bronze medal as they edged out Thailand in a thrilling 54-49 win, The Straits Times reported.
The result meant Singapore matched their performance at the last Games, where they also finished third.
Larry Liew led the home team with 18 points, while the combined defensive efforts of Russel Low and Delvin Goh shut the Thai offence down late in the game. The duo contributed five blocks and 16 rebounds in between them.
