Civil servants in Riau to get shorter working hours during Ramadhan

The Riau administration has said that its civil servants will work one hour less per day during Ramadhan.

Based on a circular issued by acting Riau governor Arsyadjuliandi '€œAndi'€ Rachman, the provincial administration'€™s working hours from Monday to Thursday are from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. with a break between 12 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. The working hours on Friday will be from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. with a break from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

'€œPublic Order Agency (Satpol PP) officers will intensify inspections at shopping malls and public centers to catch civil servants leaving their offices during Ramadhan,'€ said the Riau administration'€™s Employee affairs, Education and Training Agency (BKPPD) head, Asrizal, on Wednesday.

Andi, meanwhile, said all civil servants must adhere to the schedule regulation and should not go home before the end of their working hours.

'€œTheir working hours have been reduced during Ramadhan; as such, they have to increase their work performance and services to the public,'€ he said.

'€œThey have to be enthusiastic and keep their work ethos during Ramadhan. They should not use fasting as a reason to loaf in their offices. Public services must continue to run during the fasting month,'€ said the acting governor. (ebf)(+++)
