Greater Jakarta: Electronic road pricing faces further delay

T

he city'€™s Transportation Agency will have to delay the bidding for the electronic road pricing (ERP) system and infrastructure, pending the establishment of an ERP management unit (BLUD).

Previously, Jakarta Governor Basuki '€œAhok'€ Tjahaja Purnama had said the administration would open the bidding on June.

The ERP system is among the administration'€™s programs to limit private vehicle use on the capital city'€™s main thoroughfares, including Jl. Sudirman in South Jakarta.

The agency'€™s ERP unit head Leo Amstrong said on Tuesday that the BLUD would be fully established within the next two or three weeks.

'€œTwo months after the establishment, the bidding can be held,'€ he said on the sidelines of a discussion related to the ERP at the National Police Traffic Corps (Korlantas) headquarters in Pancoran, South Jakarta.

Meanwhile, Korlantas chief Insp. Gen. Condro Kirono said police were gathering vehicle data for the ERP electronic registration and identification (ERI).

'€œWe have held workshops with police offices and have supervised their digital data collection,'€ he said.
