AKARTA: The South Jakarta Immigration Office detained eight South Koreans for allegedly misusing their visit permits to work constructing a karaoke bar in Melawai, Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta.
'Jong Sik, 56, Intaek, 57, Jungwan, 60, Youngjin, 39, Jaewon, 40, Keedon, 40, Gyutae, 60, and Euljin, 60, were nabbed on Thursday and had worked for two weeks. They arrived at Soekarno Hatta International Airport on May 24 and moved from one hotel to another,' said office head Cucu Koswala on Friday as quoted by kompas.com.
According to Cucu, his officers are still collecting evidence to discover their motives, as well as hunting for the man who sent them to Indonesia and the one who employed them here.
'There are strong allegations that they violated immigration regulations and are subject to deportation and being blacklisted,' he said.
He added that the eight could also face a maximum of five-year imprisonment and a Rp 500 million (US$37,529) fine each if they are proven to have misused their visit permits under Article 122 of Law No. 6/2011 on immigration.
