pecial prices offered by 63 Jakarta-based online shops are set to spoil shoppers as the third edition of the Jakarta Great Online Sale (JGOS) kicked off on Monday and will last until June 30.
The 2015 JGOS, initiated by the online shops berrybenka.com and bilna.com in 2013, was launched to commemorate the 488th anniversary of Jakarta, which falls on Monday. This year, the event bears the theme 'Jakarta smart city, smart shopping'.
CEO of Berrybenka and Hijabenka Jason Lamuda said that e-commerce players wished to contribute to the local economy by promoting Jakarta as one of the best shopping destinations in the country.
Meanwhile, Bilna CEO Ferry Tenka said that the JGOS also aimed to lure shoppers who were preparing for Idul Fitri holiday festivities. Participating merchants in the JGOS ranged from fashion to gadget online stores.
State-owned Bank Mandiri also took part in the JGOS, offering discounts up to 95 percent for payments using Bank Mandiri's products.
