Bimbin, the drummer in the band Slank, found his recent umrah (minor pilgrimage to Mecca) to be a heart-moving experience.
At first, he said he felt a bit intimidated seeing so many pilgrims break into tears when performing the tawaf (counter-clockwise walk around the Ka'bah).
'What I saw made me feel doubtful and anxious. But when taking the walk, I enjoyed it,' he told kompas.com.
Bimbim, who performed the umrah with his family and Slank vocalist Kaka, also encouraged younger people to perform the pilgrimage without having to wait until they are old.
'There is a myth in our society that one should wait until one is 60 to go there. [I believe] we should go there while we are young,' he said, adding young pilgrims would be physically strong to perform the pilgrimage.
