he Indonesian Defense University (Unhan) has recently signed a letter of intent (LoI) with Swedish defense and aerospace giant Saab Group on academic collaborations in innovation, research and development, as well as knowledge exchange.
The LoI was signed by Unhan rector Vice Adm. Desi Albert Mamahit and head of Saab Indonesia Peter Carlqvist, during the former's visit to Sweden which ended on June 19, according to a media statement issued by Saab on Monday.
Desi, who is also the executive director of the Maritime Security Board (Bakamla), visited various Saab facilities in Järfälla and Göteborg as well as the Swedish Armed Forces' Sea Traffic Control Center and the Swedish Defense University in Stockholm, among other places.
The LoI aims to set up a collaboration between Unhan and Saab on building networks involving academia, industry and the government in the so-called Triple Helix model.
Carlqvist said that in Sweden there was a strong alliance using the Triple Helix model. 'This is a successful model that Sweden and Saab have extensive experience with and are happy to share with Indonesia,' he said in the statement.
