Hundreds of relatives of victims of the Air Force'€™s C-130 Hercules crash attended Adam Malik General Hospital in Medan to collect the bodies of their loved ones on Tuesday night as the death toll reached 116.

Relatives of a brother and sister, who were passengers on the crashed plane, could not hold back their tears following the news that everyone on board had died.

Muti Boru Tinambunan said that her niece, Reni Boru Sihotang, a third-grade high school student, was traveling with her brother for a holiday in Pontianak, West Kalimantan. Muti waited for the bodies of her niece and nephew at the hospital'€™s mortuary.

Your comments:

Good maintenance will stop aircraft from falling from the sky.

Sorry to hear of the tragedy.

Troy

Hercules is the best aircraft with its excellent ability to fly even in very extreme weather.

If this can happen now, there must be something wrong.

My condolences to those who lost their families.

The C-130 is the workhorse of nearly all the world'€™s air forces and none has had an air disaster as bad as this where both people on board and on the ground died in significant numbers!

Check the maintenance logs, check the parts lists. The only way this bird is coming down unplanned is through mechanical or pilot error.

Condolences to the family members who lost loved ones.

The C-130 Hercules was first flown in 1954 and since then there have been over 40 models and variants and they have been flown by more than 60 nations.

In 2009 it was reported that 2,300 had been built, and a lot more would have been built since 2009. The one that crashed in Indonesia '€” how old was it and what model and variant was it?

My condolences to the families of those who perished in this dramatic crash. However, the Hercules was a military flight, so how come we had civilians on board and they were all relatives of servicemen and military personnel?

God bless their souls.

All our thoughts and prayers should be with the families of those who perished and the ones who got hurt in the crash.

It'€™s from the year 1964. Yet they still let it operate.

Then our government will need more funds to buy new ones for that reason. Yet it happens again. It'€™s a cycle.

Ellyn

It is a very good aircraft if properly maintained but I was shocked to hear it had no black box recorder.

Vill Fiala

Rest in peace, all the victims. One thing the Air Force can learn from this is don'€™t force a 50-year-old plane to fly.
