Syafii said that Ahok'€™s leadership style was tough and opened the public'€™s eyes to the importance of courage in building good governance.

He said he was sure that besides his controversial style, support for him would continue flowing in from the people.

'€œWe have really been sleeping so far. What is happening, Ahok dares to reveal the play in the Jakarta legislative council,'€ he said at a book launch at Bentara Budaya cultural center on Friday.

Syafii, also former chairman of Muhammadiyah Islamic organization, said that Ahok'€™s courage could be seen not only in his consistency in implementing clean governance but also from his success in dealing with major issues such health care, education, housing and transportation.

'€œI have never doubted his nationalism. The success he has achieved can be seen not only in corruption eradication but also in many other things,'€ he said as quoted by kompas.com.
