Guess what?: Rapper Iwa K tries not to get lost in translation

J

AKARTA: Rapper Iwa K says he faced challenges when dubbing the character of an Autobot in Transformer: Age of Extinction, which is to be broadcast on HBO Asia on July 17.

'€œI voiced Hound, who swears a lot,'€ the 44-year-old rapper said during an event to promote the film in Jakarta on Thursday, as quoted by news portal tribunnews.com.

'€œFor instance, the words '€˜Hell yeah'€™. It would be peculiar if I dubbed it into '€˜Neraka iya'€™,'€ he said, prompting laughter from guests and journalists.

To interpret Hound'€™s lines, Iwa said he held long discussions with dubbing and language directors during the recording process.

'€œThere were lots of discussions on how the swear words could be adapted into Indonesian.'€
