hiker that was reported missing last week on Mount Semeru in East Java has been found alive after local authorities deployed a rescue team to search the area.
'Our officers and members of the search and rescue team have finally found the hiker alive at the Blank 75 cliff. He, however, suffered injuries after falling from the cliff,' head of the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park, Ayu Dewi Utari, told Antara news agency over the weekend.
Last Monday, Budiawan, a student from Bogor, West Java, and his two friends began climbing the volcano, which is located on the border of the Malang and Lumajang regencies. Budiawan, however, decided to return the next day by himself, as he could not stand the cold temperature in the area.
Budiawan's friends thought Budiawan was lost after they repeatedly failed to contact him. They reported the situation to the national park's authorities on Thursday.
