Jakarta Traffic Police chief Sr. Comr. Risyapudin said the roller skate team, who would wear white uniforms with black shorts while on duty, would become a special icon in this year's operation.
'They will be responsible for handling traffic jams, crowds and crucial tourist destinations in the capital,' Risyapudin said at the Jakarta Police headquarters on Thursday. The tourist sites, he said, included Taman Margasatwa Ragunan in South Jakarta.
The team, comprising nine policeman and 17 policewomen, undertook a month of training at Gelora Bung Karno stadium in Central Jakarta.
