t least 60 train drivers conducted urine tests on Saturday at Purwokerto station in Central Java in an operation aimed at maintaining the safety of passengers during the Idul Fitri holiday.
Purwokerto train station communication manager Surono said that the operation targeted negligent drivers who consumed drugs, jeopardizing the safety of train passengers.
'This is a very special occasion, with many people taking trains. We need to ensure that the train drivers can guarantee their safety,' Surono told The Jakarta Post.
'We will conduct announced urine tests with random targets,' he added.
Surono said the sanctions were strict, should the tests be found positive.
'If narcotic use [is indicated] then we will take strict measures, including firing the drivers,' he said. (ika)(++++)
