The mayor of Houston, Annise D.Parker, is scheduled to visit Indonesia from July 12 to July 15 in her efforts to strengthen cooperation between the Houston city administration in Texas, the US, and Jakarta and Bali provincial administrations.

The Houston mayor and her delegation is scheduled to meet Jakarta governor Basuki '€œAhok'€ Tjahaja Purnama at City Hall at1:45 p.m. on Monday.

'€œAmong topics to be discussed in the meeting are efforts to boost cooperation in trade, investment, infrastructure development and flooding control as well as other cooperation prospects between the two countries,'€ the vice consul for economic and consular affairs at the Indonesian Consulate General in Houston, Arief Ihsan Rathomy, said in a statement on Sunday.

He said the mayor'€™s delegation would also discuss an increase in trade cooperation between Jakarta and Houston with the Jakarta chapter of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) in a separate meeting on Monday.

During her visit to Jakarta, Mayor Parker is also scheduled to attend a meeting with several state-owned oil and gas enterprises, including PT Pertamina and publicly listed gas distributor PT Perusahaan Gas Negara (PGN). It is hoped that the meeting can give rise to more exploration and production opportunities for Indonesian oil and gas companies in the US.

In 2014, PT Saka Energi Indonesia, a subsidiary of PGN, managed to add to its asset and increase its production capacity by acquiring 36 percent ownership of Swift Energy, a US company with operations in Fasken area, Texas.

Mayor Parker is also scheduled to visit Bali and meet with Bali governor I Made Mangku Pastika and Denpasar mayor IB Rai Dharmawijaya Mantra on Tuesday. They will discuss efforts to increase cooperation in the fields of tourism, trade and creative industry.

'€œIt is scheduled for the Houston mayor to enjoy the beauty of Ubud before she departs for Taiwan on Wednesday afternoon,'€ Arief said. (ebf)
