short circuit from a cellp hone charger appears to have triggered a fire that blazed through a two-story house in the Taman Modern Indah housing complex in Cakung, East Jakarta, on Monday.
'The fire happened because the cell phone charger took too long in charging and led to an explosion,' East Jakarta Disaster Management and Rescue Agency operational head Moelyanto said on Monday as quoted by beritajakarta.com.
He said that the fire, which started around noon, caused no fatalities. The agency deployed 12 fire trucks that ultimately extinguished the fire in 45 minutes.
A 40-year-old witness Sonya said that the fire razed the first story first and then engulfed the house's roof.
'The house owner looked very hysterical but could do nothing,' she said.
The house owner, 57-year-old Sunarto, was reportedly watching television with his wife in their living room when the fire occurred.
