he city's sanitation agency will no longer rent garbage trucks starting next year as it plans to procure hundreds of trucks to meet fleet shortages.
Jakarta Sanitation Agency head Isnawa Adji said that this year his agency would focus on making the procurement to boost the number of garbage disposal trucks.
'I will ensure that we will no longer rent trucks next year. In October this year, 355 new trucks will be ready to roll,' he said on Tuesday as quoted by tribunenews.com at City Hall.
Isnawa said that the trucks would be purchased using his agency's budget through the e-catalog system, which was expected to expedite the procurement process especially on heavy equipment and construction materials.
Aside from October's procurement, he said, the Jakarta Development Planning Board would be ready to earmark funds for another procurement of 650 garbage trucks by the end of the year.
The city administration is currently still using 400 rented garbage trucks to meet fleet shortages. Their rental contracts are set to expire on January 1 next year.
