he City Council has found that a city administration asset of 2.1 hectares of land in Kayu Putih, East Jakarta, has been misappropriated for years.
Councilor Very Younevil of the Hanura Party faction said that PT Korea World Center Indonesia in cooperation with city-owned developer PT Jakarta Propertindo (Jakpro) had been assigned to turn the land into a Korean cultural center. However, he said, the land was somehow already rented to another private company. Consequently, the development of the cultural center has yet to take place.
'We [councilors] went to the location on Monday to check. Currently, a supermarket, cafe and a karaoke house is operating on the land. Their presence is not in accordance to the initial contract, which states that the land is to be developed into a cultural center,' Very said on Tuesday as reported by kompas.com.
He went on to say that the City Council would further investigate the contract and question the Korea World Center and Jakpro representatives and other relevant officials.
