East Flood Canal to host Betawi festival on Friday

The city administration plans to hold the Betawi cultural festival at the East Flood Canal in Duren Sawit on Friday.

Set to be held from 7 p.m. until 10 p.m., the event will be opened by East Jakarta Mayor Bambang Musyawardana and feature various Betawi art performances such as reog (masked dance), zapin dance, ondel-ondel (giant effigies), jaipong dance, gambang kromong (traditional Betawi music ensemble), and dangdut music.

"The festival aims to entertain residents as well as preserve Betawi culture," said assistant for the East Jakarta economy and administration office Eric Phahlevi Zakaria Lumbun as quoted by beritajakarta.com on Thursday. (kes)(++++)
