Indonesia has snatched two gold, one silver and three bronze at the 2015 International Mathematics Competition for Students in Bulgaria.
The two gold medals were won by 19-year-old Muhamad Al Kahfi from Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) and 22-year-old Pramudya Ananto from Gadjah Mada University.
The Indonesian team also received an honorable mention in the competition on top of their gold, silver and bronze medals.
Indonesian embassy representative Dina Martina said this year's achievement was the biggest since the country first participated in the competition in 2004.
According to Dina, Indonesia won only one gold medal in the 2010 and 2014 competitions.
'This achievement proves that Indonesia is just as high achieving as other countries in math,' Indonesian ambassador to Bulgaria, Bunyan Saptomo, said as quoted by Antara news agency on Monday.
In the competition, Indonesian students had to compete with 326 contestants from 75 top universities around the world, such Yale University in the US, Leiden University in the Netherlands and Nanyang Technological University in Singapore. (ika)
