ublic Works and Housing Minister Basuki Hadimoeljono said on Tuesday that the ministry would draft a new regulation that would require developers to provide a helipad facility and emergency stairs in all high buildings.
The new regulation, he added, would not only target luxurious apartments but also low-cost apartments.
Even though it has not been issued yet, the ministry has started to apply the policy in an apartment project in Sentul, West Java.
'Imagine a two-story shop-house, a family could die as a result of not being able to get out of the building," Basuki said as quoted by tempo.co on Tuesday.
He argued that these facilities were needed for safety reasons. (edn/ika)(++++)
