uet musical group Svara Duo is set to grace the auditorium of Institut Français d'Indonésie (IFI) in Central Jakarta on August 5-7.
With members include Eugène Carmona playing the piano and Ken Lila Ashanti on violin, the group will perform classic repertoirs from C. Debussy, J. Brahms and K. Szymanowski in a concert dubbed "Carte Blanche: Debussy" on August 7. It will also conduct a two-day master class themed 'How to practice efficiently: An introduction to Europe's interpretation styles".
According to Dwi Setyowati from IFI, the concert will be Svara Duo's first performance in Indonesia.
'Since IFI facilitates any France-Indonesia collaborations, we are here to support both countries' collaboration in education, science and culture. Hopefully, the classical music masterclass from Svara Duo can also become an exchange of knowledge, technique and experience in classical music,' said Dwi on a recent press release.
Founded in 2009, the duo regularly perform at Cully Classique Festival in Switzerland as well as in various musical events all around Europe.
Born and raised in Jakarta, Indonesia, Ken Lila Ashanti is an Indonesian musician who has won several international music competitions including the Leopold Bellan International Competition in Paris and the International Music Competition Vittoria Caffa Rigetti in Italy.
Eugène Carmona currently works as a director and a piano teacher at Ecole de musique du Mont-sur-Lausanne. He also formed Sinfonia Orchestra in Lausanne, Switzerland. (nov/kes)(+++)
