Legendary rock band God Bless has its nose to the grindstone approaching the Panggung Sandiwara concert set for Friday at the Ciputra Artpreneur Theatre in Kuningan, South Jakarta.

'€œThe concert will be a special moment for God Bless, so we'€™ve been working really hard for it,'€ vocalist Ahmad Albar, 69, told a press conference as quoted by kompas.com.

Ahmad went on to say that the band, known for hits such as '€œSemut Hitam'€ (Black Ants) and '€œRumah Kita'€ (Our Home), usually practices once a week.

'€œBut for the concert we'€™re practicing three or four times a week. Every practice session lasts two and a half hours,'€ he added.

Keyboardist Abadi Soesman, 66, said that the intensive practice sessions had begun about two months ago. '€œWe'€™re going to collaborate with an orchestra, so we have to stay focused.'€

Rocking the stage since the early 1970s, God Bless, which celebrates its 42nd anniversary this year, has released six studio albums plus three compilation albums. Besides Ahmad and Abadi, the group also consists of guitarist Ian Antono and bassist Donny Fatah.
