The most talked about criminal case in the country has finished its preliminary reconstruction phase, revealing the case as a homicide.
Hayriantira, who was the assistant to the CEO of XL telecommunication company, was missing since November 2014. Her friend Andi Wahyudi later admitted to murdering her. He finally confessed after he was detained last month following his attempt to forge fake papers for Hayriantira's car, which he stole after the murder.
Andi went through the preliminary reconstruction on Thursday at a hotel room in Garut, West Java, where he killed Hayriantira. The reconstruction revealed that Andi used a pillow to suffocate Hayriantira.
The motive, Andi confessed, was due to Hayriantira's insult toward him when he refused to have sex with her in the hotel room.
'She kept saying 'are you gay?' repeatedly. I don't know what got into me. I suddenly did it [killed Hayriantira],' said Andi as quoted by kompas.com on Friday.
After killing her, Andi dumped her body in the bathtub and took her car to get away from the crime scene.
Having gone missing for months, Hayriantira's family finally filed a report to the Jakarta Police (Polda Metro Jaya).
When the police went to search for her, they found her car in Andi's possession. Thorough investigation revealed that Andi changed the ownership of the car using a faked signature of Hayriantira, so Andi was initially arrested based on that.
Andi initially denied knowing anything of Hayriantira's whereabouts, but he finally caved in after a month in jail. His confession matched with the report of an unidentified corpse found at the hotel room in Garut on Oct. 30, 2014.
Andi will be charged with at least five years in prison using Criminal Code (KUHP) Article 265 on document forgery and Article 338 on homicide. (rad/kes)(+++)
