hirty-three Indonesian publishers will participate in the Frankfurt Book Fair, the world's biggest and oldest book festival, from Oct. 14 to 18 this year.
Indonesia is the guest of honor at this year's book fair, which will involve 126 participating countries and draw more than 260,000 visitors.
During the event, publishers will have the opportunity to promote books and sell the copyrights to books. As the guest of honor, Indonesia is given access to the main arena at the fair, a roughly 2,500 square-meter space, to exhibit its national literary wealth.
'The Frankfurt Book Fair 2015 will hopefully mark a turning point for Indonesian publishers. It could be the start of a change. Just as we used to come to this event to buy copyrights, we now see it as an opportunity to sell our copyrights,' the head of the Indonesian organizing committee, Goenawan Muhamad, said in a press release sent to The Jakarta Post on Thursday.
The publishers have been chosen by the committee to represent a variety of themes from art books and children's books to novels and other literature.
