nternational musicians are set to perform at the Toraja International Festival (TIF) in Rantepao in North Toraja, South Sulawesi, on August 13-16.
Those scheduled to appear at the event include the Gotrasawala Ensemble and Ana Alcaide from Spain, BoiAkih from the Netherlands, Ron Reeves from Australia, Helga Sedli from Hungary and Yzbegim Yoshlari from Uzbekistan.
Local talent will also join the festivities including KunoKini, a music group that blends traditional music with contemporary tunes.
'As the name suggests, TIF is an international cultural festival that aims to bring various music groups and artists to perform in Tana Toraja,' said TIF communication manager Prity Saraswati on Thursday as quoted by Antara news agency.
Besides music performances, Toraja traditional dances and Mabugi singing will also be performed at the event.
'Mabugi only exists in the Rantepao region. Its traditional song and dances will be one of the main highlights of the festival,' said Prity.
The event will also showcase Toraja traditional arts such as tenun (handwoven fabric), Karombi, Manganda, Menimbong, Pageludan Pompang, Toraja Choir and Tibaen Ballo, as well as local food and coffee. (nov/kes)
