AKARTA: President Joko '€œJokowi'€ Widodo decided against inaugurating new projects at the House of Representatives compound in Senayan, Central Jakarta, on Friday.

After delivering a speech at the House on Friday afternoon, Jokowi was scheduled to sign an inscription for seven newly built projects at the complex.

Earlier, during his speech to open the first plenary session for the 2015-2016 sitting session, House Speaker Setya Novanto made a direct request to Jokowi regarding the signing of the inscription.

According to a report by kompas.com, after the plenary session wrapped, Jokowi, Vice President Jusuf Kalla and House leadership toured the inside of the new museum.

Around ten minutes later, Jokowi came out of the museum and walked past the inscription he was supposed to sign.

'€œSo the President wants these projects to be cleared first, then afterward we will talk about where this is going to,'€ said Deputy House Speaker Fahri Hamzah.

Fahri said he understood Jokowi'€™s decision.

'€œNo [disappointment], it'€™s not uncommon. And he [Jokowi] made good comments, that we must have a modern legislative complex,'€ Fahri added.

An inscription with the name '€œJoko Widowo'€ written on it had been prepared at the House museum since Thursday.
