Your comments on the commemoration of the country's 70th Independence Day and the spirit of freedom fighters inspiring today's youth:
I think it's still inspiring the spirit of freedom and unity, especially among the younger generation, because it teaches them how to work in a team and love each other even they come from different backgrounds.

Every time Indonesia celebrates its independence, it insults the Dutch. Indonesia should also send its condolences to the Japanese who gave their lives to help Indonesia defeat the Dutch before they were sadly bombed by the US.

A patriot doesn't have the need to fiddle with national symbols. Patriotism is grown out of a brave person's heart and they would go through fire and water to reach their goals for you and future generations.

So much for 'freedom' of expression. Even though Soeharto is dead, his legacy of rights abuses lives on. Surely, this was a 'historical' drama/display of the trials and tribulations this country has gone through to gain independence.

After the declaration on Aug. 17, 1945, the Dutch still insisted that Indonesia was a part of its colonial possessions. Only at the end of 1949 did they give up and recognize us.

There's no spirit left to inspire the current generation because all of the freedom fighters have passed away. The only spirit left is that of Jokowi and, of course, Megawati.
