resident Joko "Jokowi" Widodo distributed 7,713 social assistance cards, comprising 4,995 Indonesia Health Cards (KIS), 1,714 Indonesia Smart Cards (KIP) and 1,004 Prosperous Family Saving Cards (KKS), during his visit in Pontianak, West Kalimantan, on Saturday.
He also handed over Social Assistance Cards for People with Heavy Disabilities (ODKB) to 104 disabled persons during the visit.
Jokowi said social assistance beneficiaries must benefit from the facilities in line with their specified purposes.
"Don't use the cards to buy 'pulsa' [cellular credit refills]," said Jokowi.
The President added that the social assistance cards he had handed over to people from low-income brackets in the city were covered by budgetary allocations previously used for fuel subsidies worth trillions of rupiah.
He said that nationally, the government had distributed 16 million KKS cards, 20 million KIP cards and 88 million KIS cards.
"Please use the card to buy school uniforms, books, shoes and other school supplies," said Jokowi. (ebf) (++++)
