panish Trade Minister Jaime Garcia Legaz is set to bring investors to Indonesia in September to examine potential opportunities in the trade and infrastructure sectors, according to a report by Antara news agency.
Indonesian Ambassador to Spain Yuli Mumpuni Widarso is hopeful that efforts at increasing trade between the two countries will be discussed during the visit since the volume is still quite low. Although Indonesia's overall exports to Spain increased 7.7 percent in 2014, its fisheries exports declined by around 33.3 percent.
According to Yuli, the decreasing supply of fish products from Indonesia highlighted the problem of illegal fishing practices by foreign boats in Indonesian waters that have caused financial losses for local fishermen and business operators.
Spain is world's second biggest importer of fisheries products and is a potentially lucrative market. (kes) (++++)
