oordinating Political, Legal and Security Affairs Minister Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan denied that the development of the National Cyber Agency would involve foreign countries including the United States.
Speculation was rife that the development of the cyber agency would involve the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), which has the ability to tap into any conversation through social media networks such as WhatsApp, Blackberry Messenger and other applications, and then store these conversations on a system called Big Data.
Luhut said that Big Data was general term for a set of complex and unstructured data in large numbers. 'The allegation is not true,' Luhut said.
He said further that the cyberbody would not be used to spy on Indonesian citizens, but it would be used as a preventive tool against cyber attacks from the other countries. The cyber agency was firstly initiated by the former coordinating political, legal and security affairs minister Tedjo Edhy Purdijatno in March of this year.
