Outgoing chief of the National Police's detective corps Comr
utgoing chief of the National Police's detective corps Comr. Gen. Budi Waseso has said that while he was heading the detective corps, the National Police were investigating nine big cases, including one involving Rp 180 trillion (US$127.27 billion).
'There is a case that involves Rp 180 trillion. But the investigation is still delayed. It is spectacular case,' said Budi, as quoted by tempo.co. However Budi, who was appointed to chair the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) on Friday, rejected to reveal the case.
According to Budi, the police are also currently investigating a big corruption case involving PT Trans Pacific Petrochemical Indotama that could potentially be responsible for state losses of Rp 2 trillion.
In this case, Oil and Gas Upstream Regulator (PB Migas), which is now SSK Migas, appointed PT TPPI to sell the condensate.
National Police's special economic crime director Brig. Gen. Victor Simanjuntak said that the sale was worth US$3 billion, but the condensate had a value of $4 billion. Meanwhile, the company still owes $143 billion to the government.
He expressed hopes that his successor, BNN head Comr. Gen. Anang Iskandar, would follow up the investigations. (bbn)(++++)
