The latest gadget from Samsung, Galaxy Note 5, was assembled in Indonesia using both local and imported components.
'We are proud to say that the Galaxy Note 5 is made in Indonesia," said Samsung Electrics Indonesia IT and mobile business marketing director Vebbyna Kaunang on Friday as quoted by Antara news agency.
Produced at the company's plant in Cikarang, West Java, it has fulfilled the local industrial content (TKDN) level of 20 percent.
Previously, Communications and Information Minister Rudiantara revealed the government's plans to boost TKDN in cell phones.
Three ministers are set to issue a circular letter in October regarding the policy of a minimum of 30 percent TKDN for all 4G smartphones and network devices entering Indonesia.
"We have spoken with the Industry Minister and Trade Minister. The regulation will be issued in October and states that 30 percent of the TKDN will focus on non-hardware," said Rudiantara on Monday as quoted by kontan.co.id. (rad/kes)
