The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is set to inaugurate Sr. Comr. Aris Budiman as its newly elected investigation director on Wednesday.

"Sr. Comr. Aris was chosen as the best of the best," said KPK's acting commissioner Johan Budi on Tuesday as quoted by tempo.co.

According to Johan, there were eight candidates who were eying the spot, all came from the Attorney General's Office (AGO) and the National Police. The initial selection started three months ago and two candidates were picked for the final interview, which later saw Aris as the chosen one.

Aris is the Jakarta Police's former chief detective of special crimes as well as deputy director for corruption crimes at the National Police's criminal investigation directorate (Bareskrim).

Johan said that the KPK had done an investigation as well as tracked Aris' wealth records prior to the selection.

"All KPK employees have gone through the investigation process and had their wealth records checked," said Johan.

The KPK will also soon have new deputies for its prevention and enforcement units as the selection process is currently ongoing. (kes)(++++)
