National flag carrier Garuda Indonesia, through its subsidiary Garuda Maintenance Facility (GMF) Aeroasia, has inaugurated Hangar IV, dubbed one of the biggest hangars in the world to maintain narrow-body aircraft at the Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Tangerang, Banten, on Monday.
Built by state-owned construction firm PT Wijaya Karya using the budget provide by state-owned lender Bank Negara Indonesia (BNI), the hangar cost more than Rp 400 billion (US$27.15 million) and will be able to provide the capacity of 16 lines.
"BNI's support for GMF Aeroasia is part of our commitment to contribute to the government's programs to help accelerate infrastructure developments," said BNI president director Achmad Baiquni as quoted by kompas.com.
State-owned Enterprises Minister Rini Soemarno, Garuda Indonesia president director Arif Wibowo and GMF Aeroasia president director Richard Budihadianto also attended the inauguration ceremony. (kes)
