The House of Representatives legislation body (Baleg) is preparing a regulation relating to integrated security system, which will prevent unauthorized people from entering the House complex in Senayan, Central Jakarta, to avoid any unwanted incidents.

Baleg deputy chairman Firman Soebagyo said the new regulation was aimed at guaranteeing the safety of House members and all employees in the complex. It would not limit public access to meetings with House members, he added.

'€œWe don'€™t want to close the public'€™s access to the House complex, however, we must prioritize our safety. We should not allow the public to access the complex without any controls. That would put ourselves at risk,'€ said Firman as quoted by kompas.co.id at the House complex on Thursday.

The House member further said that up until now, people could easily enter the House complex.

'€œIt is very possible for unauthorized people to bring backpacks or suitcases into the complex and to straightaway reach rooms on the upper floors. If they had bombs in their backpacks, it would be very dangerous,'€ he said.

Firman said Baleg was also worried about the safety of the air-conditioning system in the House complex. He said centralized air-conditioning systems, such as those currently installed at the House building, could be very risky. '€œIf its security system is not strong enough and poisonous substances are channeled into the building through the air-conditioning, we could all die,'€ said Firman.

He said it was intended that the regulation on security for the House complex be completed in October this year. The House will involve the Regional Representative Council and the People'€™s Consultative Assembly in composing the regulation. (ags/ebf)
