Up to 107 lawmakers from 74 countries have joined the Global Organization of Parliamentarians Against Corruption (GOPAC) forum that opened in Yogyakarta, Central Java, on Tuesday morning.
The Canada-based GOPAC, which groups around 170 lawmakers from more than 50 countries, was established in 2002.
The organization aims to assist in the development of key anti-corruption legislation including laws on freedom of information, conflict of interest, illicit enrichment, rules governing conduct of civil servants, money laundering, asset recovery, protection of whistleblowers and the United Nations Convention Against Corruption (UNCAC) implementation and monitoring mechanisms.
According to the forum's committee chairman, Nurhayati Ali Assegaf, GOPAC president Ricardo Garcia Cervantes could not attended the forum due to illness.
A report by tempo.co said that Coordinating Political, Legal & Security Affairs Minister Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan was seen among the Indonesian delegation.
Prior to Indonesia's turn to host the three-day forum, the event was last held in Manila, the Philippines, in 2013. (kes)(++++)
