40-year-old man in Sukabumi regency, West Java, died on Tuesday after being stung by thousands of bees at a local estate, tribunnews.com reported.

Pepen, a resident of Langanria hamlet, Tenjojaya subdstrict, Cibadak district, was collecting grass with two other villagers for their goats in an estate when the attack occurred.

The victim had separated from his group and accidently stepped on a beehive, which was believed to have just fallen from a nearby tree.

'€œHe screamed. His body was covered with attacking bees but we didn'€™t dare to approach,'€ Ajat, one of the witnesses, told reporters on Tuesday, adding that the attack lasted around 10 minutes.

Ajat and Udin, the other two villagers, took Pepen to his house and later to Sekarwangi General Hospital, but the victim died on the way there.
