A 5.2 magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of Banten province on Wednesday, with resulting in tremors being felt in Jakarta.
The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) reported that the quake struck at 1:14 p.m. on Wednesday. The epicenter of the quake was recorded 88 kilometers southwest of Pandeglang regency Banten, at a depth of 10 kilometers. There is no risk of a tsunami from the earthquake, the BMKG reported.
Employees working in the Palmerah area of West Jakarta felt the tremor for several seconds while others in Central and South Jakarta also reported similar experiences. (rin)
