AKARTA: Indonesia brought home one gold and one bronze medal on Friday from the IPF Open World Championships in Hamm, Luxemburg. Sri Hartati nailed the gold medal in the women's 57 kilograms, while compatriot Noviana Sari snatched the bronze in the women's 63 kg.
Sri was awarded with the gold after lifting a total of 537.5 kg (210 kg in squat, 135 kg in bench press and 192.5 kg in dead lift). Meanwhile, Noviana lifted a total of 570 kg (225 kg in barbell, 130 kg in bench press and 215 kg in dead lift).
'It is a good result, and will hopefully boost the morale of our athletes who are going to participate in upcoming world weightlifting championships in Houston in the US,' Indonesian Weightlifting, Powerlifting and Bodybuilding Association (PABBSI) chief Rosan P. Roeslani said as quoted by Antara news agency.
