Two wearable gadgets were introduced by Samsung Electronics Indonesia in Jakarta on Wednesday following a global launch two months ago in Berlin, Germany.
The smartwatch series, named Samsung Gear S2 and Gear S2 Classic, feature a round face with a rotatable bezel for quick navigating. The standard Gear S2 comes in two color options: a dark grey bezel with a similar toned rubber silicone strap and a silver bezel with a matching white strap. The Classic comes with a black-ridged bezel, an interchangeable leather strap and a smaller body to give it a more premium feel as well as make it replaceable with any 20-millimeter watch band.
According to Samsung Electronics Indonesia IT and mobile business marketing director Vebbyna Kaunang, the gadgets were meant for individuals who are fashion enthusiasts, always wanting to be up-to-date and aware of the latest trends and styles.
Compared to their predecessors, the Gear S2 is more wearable and already embedded with various functionalities to support their users' lifestyles, from productivity to sports trackers. One of their features' highlights is the rotating bezel, which enables users to switch between apps, flip back to notifications and change volume.
The smartwatches run on Samsung's Tizen Operating System and are compatible to sync with any Android phone and tablet that runs, at a minimum, the 4.4 (KitKat) Android version and 1.5 GB RAM. Users are also able to connect their devices with the smartwatch through 4.1 Bluetooth and WiFi connections as well as connect simultaneously with more than one device, such as an Android smartphone and a Bluetooth headset.
Available for pre-order by Dec. 13, the Gear S2 and Gear S2 Classic will be priced at Rp 3,999,000 (US$290.14) and Rp 4,499,000, respectively. (kes)(+)
