Coordinating Maritime Affairs Minister Rizal Ramli has stated that the recently announced visa-free policy would not be applied to Israelis.
"There are suggestions about waiving visa requirements for Israel, [but] we rejected that," said Rizal on his official Twitter account @RamliRizal on Monday night as quoted by Antara news agency.
Previously, Rizal mentioned Israeli as one of the nationals that would no longer need a visa to enter Indonesia.
The latest visa-free policy for another 84 countries is set to start this week in an effort to boost foreign arrivals. Among those included on the list are Albania, Armenia, Australia, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Bolivia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Brazil, Cameroon, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Georgia, Guatemala, Honduras, Kenya, Kiribati, Macedonia, Madagascar, Mauritius, Moldova, Mongolia, Mozambique, Namibia, Pakistan, Palestine, Paraguay, Sierra Leone, Ukraine, Uruguay, Uzbekistan and Zambia.
Foreign arrivals reportedly increased 19 percent year-on-year following the introduction of visa waivers for 47 nationalities in October. (kes)
