In the wake of the deadly blasts in Jakarta on Thursday, some airlines have announced that they will waive rebooking fees for passengers with flights to or from the Indonesian capital in the coming days and weeks.
Singapore Airlines (SIA), Tigerair Singapore and Jetstar said their flights to and from Jakarta are operating normally.
SIA said in a statement on its website that it will waive rebooking fees for customers holding confirmed tickets issued on or before Jan 14, for SIA flights to or from Jakarta up to Jan 20. Customers who make use of this rebooking should start their journey by Jan 31.
This also applies to redemption tickets, the airline said.
Tigerair also put up a statement saying it will waive the rebooking or re-routing fees for affected customers who were meant to travel to or from Jakarta up to Jan 20. The fare or tax difference may be applicable. Rebooked travel must start by Jan 31.
Jetstar spokesman Robin Goh said more than a dozen calls had been made to the airline by concerned customers as of 10 a.m. on Friday. "Jetstar is waiving change-fees and fare difference to customers who would like to amend their travel plans to or from Jakarta over the next seven days," he said.
Passengers will be advised on changes to their flights and options if a travel warning is issued by the authorities, he said.
The airlines advised customers to arrive early at the airport due to increased security protocols. (kes)(+)
