Online shops that allow customers to try on shoes and clothes virtually, a vacuum cleaner that can detect a dirty room and turn on automatically, as well as a chip-inserted wall that can detect mold or wreck in real-time, are just a few of the many expectations customers have.

'€œThe survey results are in line with the current government program to finalize the 5G roadmap standard by 2020, because such futuristic internet use will be better with a 5G network,'€ Ericsson marketing and communication vice president Hardyana '€œNana'€ Syintawati said Tuesday.

The 5G spectrum frequency offers speedier connection and is able to hibernate data use when unnecessary thus the cost and apps battery efficiency, according to her.

Major telecommunication operators in the country only just recently began operating in the 4G network. By December last year, 4G penetration had only reached 2 percent. Experts predict the country will start using 5G only by 2025.

Ericsson surveyed 40,000 smartphone users in 10 developed and developing cities worldwide. The company'€™s statisticians say that it represents as many as 46 million smartphone users around the globe, including Indonesia.
