ANGERANG: The health agency in Tangerang regency, Banten, announced that three people have died of dengue fever this month.
Tangerang Health Agency head Naniek Isnaeni said that the deceased were from Sindang Jaya, Tigaraksa and Legok districts, all considered to be areas with high dengue fever infection rates, as are Pagedangan, Cikupa and Cisauk districts.
'The number of infection cases [in the six districts] is very high. This month alone, we have received more than 10 cases [in each of the districts],' Naniek said on Friday as quoted by tempo.co.
'In comparison with the same period last month, infections have increased significantly,' Naniek said, without elaborating on last month's infection rate.
In an attempt to reduce infections in the regency, she has called on residents to participate in the '3M' movement: menguras (drain the bathtub), menutup (close home reservoirs) and mengubur (bury all trash).
